A relaxation massage is a gentle, slow massage whose aim isn't to “break up” muscles but to calm both body and mind. At ESCAPE you won't find it under a single name — we deliver it through our soft oil-based massages: Thai oil, aromatherapy or coconut. Below we explain what makes a massage truly relaxing and how to pick the right one for you.
In short: a relaxation massage = slow oil strokes in a calm room. Here you get it through our Thai oil, aromatherapy or coconut massage.
What makes a massage relaxing
A relaxation massage is more about how it feels than about technique. What matters is the pace, the touch and the setting — not the force. When a massage is slow and flowing, the body gets the signal that it's safe and switches from tension into rest.
- Slow oil strokes — long, gliding movements across the whole body release surface tension and calm the nervous system.
- A calm setting — soft light, warmth, quiet or gentle music, and time that's just for you.
- Aromatherapy — the scent of essential oils helps the mind switch off faster than almost anything else.
That's exactly why relaxation massages are oil-based — the oil lets the hands glide without friction and keep that slow, hypnotic rhythm. And you always set the pressure yourself, softer (SOFT) or firmer (STRONG).
Who a relaxation massage is for
A relaxation massage is one of the most universal treatments — it suits almost everyone. The people who most often come to us for one are those who:
- are stressed or run down and need to switch their head off;
- have trouble sleeping and are looking for a way to calm the body;
- are having a massage for the first time and want a gentle, pain-free start;
- simply want to treat themselves — or someone they love, as a gift.
If you're dealing with specific back pain or a stiff neck, look instead at our back, neck & shoulders massage. But for all-round calm, a relaxing oil massage is the one.
How a relaxation massage works at ESCAPE
Here a relaxation massage means one of our oil massages. We welcome you with herbal tea, fine-tune the pressure and the oil scent, then let you switch off completely for 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Choose by mood:
- Thai oil massage — gentle gliding strokes with argan oil, our classic for deep relaxation. From 1,790 CZK.
- Aromatherapy massage — essential oils of your choice to calm the mind. From 1,890 CZK.
- Coconut oil massage — nourishing coconut oil and a warm, soothing touch. From 2,090 CZK.
You'll find them all in our massage overview and with prices in the price list. Your therapist is certified and trained at prestigious schools in Southeast Asia, and we use only natural oils.
How to choose: oil, aroma or coconut
All three are relaxing — they differ mainly in the oil and in what they focus on:
- Want a proven classic and the best value for relaxation? Go for the Thai oil massage with argan oil.
- Want to enjoy the scent and quiet the mind too? Pick the aromatherapy massage and an essential oil to match your mood (unwind, sleep, energy).
- Have dry skin or crave a warm, nourishing touch? Reach for the coconut oil massage.
Still unsure? Read our guide Which massage is right for me? — it helps you choose based on what you need right now.
What to expect and how to prepare
Come a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing. Avoid a big meal right before, take off your jewellery and leave your worries at the door — we'll take care of the rest.
- During the massage it's all up to you: the pressure, the areas we focus on, and whether you'd like to chat or stay quiet.
- After an oil massage it's good not to rush — enjoy your tea and drink some water.
- The effect of a relaxation massage often shows up in better sleep that night.
We're in central Prague in the Old Town, Elišky Krásnohorské 133/11, open daily 10:00–22:00.
