Thai oil massage uses less pressure than traditional Thai massage and, instead of strength, relies on long, gliding strokes and flowing kneading. The therapist works with pure unscented argan oil, kind even to sensitive skin. The warmth of the oil and the slow movement of her palms let stiff muscles release gradually and naturally.
Instead of yoga-like stretches there are only gentle ones: you simply lie on the table the whole time. Reach for it after a demanding week, after days at a computer, after nights of poor sleep or when your skin feels dry. And if strong pressure puts you off, start with this one.

How it works at ESCAPE
- WelcomeAt reception we welcome you with a drink that changes colour in front of you. You keep your underwear on (disposable underwear is ready if you prefer it), and on the massage table we cover you with a towel, so only the part of the body the therapist is working on is ever uncovered.
- Warm oil and flowing strokesFirst the therapist asks where you feel tension. Then she warms the argan oil and works it in with long, gliding strokes, from your back over your arms and legs to your neck, first as you lie on your front, then on your back. You set the pressure: just say so and she makes it softer or firmer.
- Warm tea to finishAfter the massage, take a moment to rest over a cup of warm tea. You are welcome to take a shower if you like.

Origins and tradition
In Thai, oil massage is nuat nam man, and the word for oil itself, nam man, is built from the words for ‘water’ and ‘fat’. Massage in Thailand was already paired with oils in the Ayutthaya period: King Narai’s medical compendium, compiled around 1650, records oil formulas used with massage. The long gliding strokes that Thai oil massage alternates with rhythmic kneading and gentle stretching go by a French name, effleurage, from effleurer, to touch lightly.

Your questions about Thai oil massage
What oil do you use?
Pure unscented argan oil, kind even to sensitive skin, with body lotion and balm where needed. It is included in the price, and the therapist warms it before the massage; please tell us in advance if you have an allergy or sensitive skin. Would you prefer a scented oil? Choose the Aromatherapy Massage with an essential oil of your choice.
Why argan oil, when the massage is Thai?
The technique is Thai. The oil is pressed from the kernels of the argan tree, native to south-west Morocco, which can live for 200 years. Made by hand, it takes one person around 24 hours to obtain about a litre of oil from 50 kilograms of fruit.
Do I have to undress?
Yes, the oil goes directly on the skin. You keep your underwear on (disposable underwear is ready if you prefer it), and on the massage table we cover you with a towel, so only the part of the body the therapist is working on is ever uncovered. You don’t need to bring anything special; for details see What to bring to a massage.
Will the oil stay on my skin?
Most of the oil soaks in during the massage, and we recommend leaving the rest on your skin for about an hour. Afterwards you can freshen up in the shower at your own pace; a fresh towel is always ready for you.
How is it different from traditional Thai massage?
The oil massage is gentler: warm oil, lighter pressure and only gentle stretches instead of yoga-like ones; you lie on the table the whole time. Traditional Thai massage (our Traditional Thai Massage) is done without oil, through clothing, and combines pressure with stretching.
Can I choose the intensity?
Yes, at any time during the massage. Just say so and the therapist will make the pressure softer or firmer straight away. Before she starts, she asks where you feel tension.
How much does a Thai oil massage cost in Prague?
At the ESCAPE salon in Prague 1, a Thai oil massage costs 1,790 CZK for 60 minutes, 2,290 CZK for 90 minutes and 2,790 CZK for 120 minutes. Unscented argan oil, a welcome drink and warm tea after the massage are included. You’ll find all our other massages in the price list.
How do I book, and how long is the massage?
You can choose 60, 90 or 120 minutes. We recommend at least 90 minutes: under the warm oil the muscles let go gradually, and a longer massage gives them the time. Book online in a few clicks, by phone on +420 734 331 444 or via WhatsApp.
How can I pay?
Online when you book (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay), or later at the salon by card or in cash (CZK or EUR). You can also pay with a gift voucher. Cash is 4% cheaper: the card fee we save goes to you.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes, cancelling or changing your booking is free up to 24 hours ahead. Just call +420 734 331 444, message us on WhatsApp or email info@escapemassage.cz. We charge no fee for later cancellations; we only ask you to let us know in time.

You’ll find the ESCAPE salon a few steps from Old Town Square, at Elišky Krásnohorské 133/11, 110 00 Prague 1 (Josefov). The nearest metro station is Staroměstská (line A). We are open daily 10:00–22:00; please arrive 15 minutes early.
Can I give a Thai oil massage as a gift?
Yes. Buy a voucher for this massage, or credit of 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 or 25,000 CZK (from 5,000 CZK with 5–15% off). The PDF arrives by email right after payment. A printed voucher in an elegant gift envelope can be collected at the salon, or a courier brings it to you anywhere in the Czech Republic, usually within 2 working days, so you can hand it over in person. Valid for 12 months.
