Foot and ankle massage for tired feet
Soles, heels, toes and ankles let go, and the spring comes back to your step.

Your feet carry you all day, so massaging them does more than relieve heavy legs: it calms the rest of your body and your mind. With a mix of pressure and gentle strokes, the therapist warms your soles, heels, insteps, toes and ankles and washes away the fatigue. She also works with the reflex points of the feet and uses oil.
Made for anyone on their feet all day: shop staff, waiters, nurses, and travellers after a long journey or a whole day of walking around Prague. It helps with a desk job too, when your legs feel heavy and tired by evening. In our salon, a few steps from Old Town Square, you are massaged by therapists from Southeast Asia, trained at renowned schools there.
What you take home
- Lightness in your stepHeavy feet let go while you’re still on the bed, and every step afterwards feels lighter.
- Warm right to your toesUnder the therapist’s warm hands, on a heated table, your feet warm up right to the tips of your toes.
- Whole-body reliefThe release spreads from your feet through your whole body, so you leave rested, not just lighter on your feet.
- A quiet mindThe therapist also works on the reflex points of your feet, and the slow pace lets you switch off completely.
How it works at ESCAPE
- WelcomeAt reception we welcome you with a drink that changes colour in front of you. You stay dressed and just take off your shoes and socks. Then you settle comfortably on the bed, we support your legs and you simply breathe out for a moment.
- From the ankles to the tips of your toesWith a mix of pressure and gentle strokes the therapist releases one foot at a time: the ankle, the instep and the sole, works through the arch, the heel and every toe, and stimulates the reflex points of the feet. She uses oil. You set the pressure: just say so and she goes lighter or firmer at once.
- Warm tea to finishAfter the massage you rest for a while over warm tea and let the lightness in your legs linger.
Please arrive 15 minutes early. If you have any health problems with your legs or feet, please ask your doctor first.
the story behind it
Origins and tradition
In Thailand the feet count as the lowest part of the body, yet the deepest respect is shown by touching a revered person’s feet; on special days, Thais traditionally wash their parents’ feet. Traditional Thai foot massage, nuat thao, works with thumb pressure along the sen lines, and tradition traces three of them, Kalathari, Sahatsarangsi and Thawari, down into the feet. Each foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Your questions about foot and leg massage
Is it a reflexology massage?
Partly. The therapist also works with the reflex points of the feet, but the main aim is relief for tired legs and deep relaxation, not treatment. We explain what reflexology is on our Reflexology Massage page.
Is foot reflexology painful?
No. Pressure on the reflex points of the feet feels pleasant, and the therapist tunes it to you the whole time: just say so and she goes lighter or firmer.
How long a massage do I need?
For quick relief for tired legs, 30 minutes is enough: soles, heels, toes and insteps. In 60 minutes the therapist also takes time over your ankles. 90 minutes has the deepest effect: everything at a slow pace, with no rush at all.
Will it help swollen legs?
It doesn’t treat swelling; it is relief, not treatment. After long standing or a hot day, the therapist gently massages your tired feet from heel to toe and you leave with a lighter step. But if only one leg swells, the swelling doesn’t go down, or your legs hurt or tingle for a long time, please see a doctor first.
Can it be combined with another massage?
Yes. When you book online, you can extend it with 30 minutes of anti-stress massage at the end, for 590 CZK instead of 1,190 CZK. It also pairs beautifully with a full-body Thai oil massage or the Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage: we’re happy to arrange a combination like that by phone or via WhatsApp.
What are the origins of foot reflexology?
Modern foot reflexology grew out of the ‘zone therapy’ of the American physician William Fitzgerald in 1913 and the foot maps the physiotherapist Eunice Ingham published in 1938. It is unclear whether the often-cited painting in an Egyptian tomb at Saqqara, from around 2330 BC, shows reflexology or simply massage.
When should I postpone the massage?
If you have an open wound, a burn, a contagious skin or fungal infection, or marked irritation on your feet, please postpone the massage. Alternatively, your therapist can leave that area out.
How much does a foot and leg massage cost in Prague?
At the ESCAPE salon in Prague 1, a foot and leg massage costs 1,290 CZK for 30 minutes, 1,790 CZK for 60 minutes and 2,290 CZK for 90 minutes. Oil, a welcome drink and warm tea after the massage are included. You’ll find all our other massages in the price list.
